Our 4th Annual South Carolina Deer Hunt at the beautiful Phillips Plantation was another unforgettable experience for the Heroes who attended. We were honored to host Heroes Shaun Robey, and Jimmy King and his son for this special event. From the moment they arrived, our Heroes were welcomed into camp with open arms by WHHC volunteers and the Phillips Plantation team. The days were spent in the woods surrounded by the peaceful stillness of nature, while the evenings were filled with laughter, storytelling, and quiet reflection in camp. These moments of connection, shared among fellow Heroes, offered the kind of healing that only time outdoors can provide. We’re deeply grateful to Dr. George Bayer and the Phillips Plantation team for their unwavering support of WHHC and the Heroes we serve. Jimmy and Shaun, we appreciate your service! Date: September 19th-20th, 2025 Heroes served: 2 Location: Beaumont, Texas Details:
This past weekend, WHHC had the privilege of honoring two remarkable Heroes with an unforgettable Texas hog and gator hunt. Army Combat Purple Heart Amputee Robert Engelbrecht and Army Combat Veteran Byron Hunter joined us for a weekend filled with healing, camaraderie, and adventure. The connection for this hunt began at the Hunters Extravaganza in Houston, Texas, where Willie Nelson, a double Purple Heart recipient, Combat Veteran, and passionate outdoorsman visited the WHHC booth. During that conversation, he extended an invitation to host WHHC Heroes for a hog and gator hunt in Beaumont, Texas. This weekend, he delivered on that promise in extraordinary fashion! From late-night hog hunts to the thrill of pulling in gators, the experience offered unforgettable moments. Marine Veteran staff member LaShonda Johnson was there to witness the excitement, camaraderie, and bonds of brotherhood throughout the trip. The adventure concluded at Porter’s Wild Game & Alligator Farm, where both Heroes were welcomed to process their gator and surprised with gifted head mounts from owner Mr. Casey. WHHC is deeply grateful to Willie Nelson and his outstanding crew for their generosity and commitment to creating such a meaningful and memorable weekend for our Heroes. Special thanks also to Porter’s Wild Game & Alligator Farm for their incredible support. This was a powerful weekend of healing, honor, and brotherhood! |
