WHHC Guide: Matthew Houston 

Outcome: The 2017 La Push Lingcod Derby was established by local fishing captains to be a fundraiser for the WHHC. Captain John Thiel from Alpha Angler Charters led this effort to get the local community’s support behind the WHHC. We ended up having 12 boats compete and were able to get 40 Service Members out fishing—19 of the 40 were combat wounded veterans. We look forward to doing more of these events in the future and thank all participants, donors, captains, and volunteers for making this event a success.

Outcome: Our Heroes had a blast fishing in the Warriors Wangling Walleye Tournament hosted by the VFW Post 2480. A big thank you to J. T. Charters for taking out our Heroes on your boat!

Outcome: The WHHC sent a combat Wounded Hero on an offshore trophy Lingcod trip with Alpha Angler Charters. Our Hero had a trip of a lifetime and got some much needed healing time on the ocean. Thank you to Alpha Anglers for filling the open slot with a WHHC veteran.
