Date: March 1-2, 2021 Location: Lebanon, PA Heroes Attended: 8 Outcome: WHHC sent 8 Heroes to Lebanon, Pennsylvania to hunt the snow goose migration with James Creek Outfitters. The Heroes had a great time getting to know each other and spent some much deserved time "Healing On The Hunt"!
Date: January 25-26, 2021 Location: Rock Hall, Maryland Heroes Attended: 5 Outcome: WHHC sent 4 Heroes out to Rock Hall, Maryland to enjoy a day of Goose hunting with Donnie Bayne. The Goose hunting was phenomenal and the Heroes enjoyed their time in the field.
Date: December 10-13, 2020 Location: Casey, IL Heroes Attended: 3 Outcome: Each year the Heroes have a great time in Casey, Illinois and this year was no exception. The two Heroes selected for this event experienced Illinois Whitetail hunting at its finest, both Heroes harvested their trophy animals in quick fashion. We would like to thank the Baston and Belinda family, along with our other WHHC supporters in Casey for sponsoring this event year after year. This event is very beneficial for the Heroes who attended. They left having a great support system and positive memories they can reflect upon down the road.
The Heroes had another surprise in camp this year, WHHC Alumni member Cpt. Brandon Thomas was the WHHC field guide for this event. It was great to see Brandon return to where his journey started with WHHC many years ago. Date: December 6-9, 2020 Location: Hollidaysburg, PA Heroes Attended: 2 Outcome: Each year WHHC sends two Heroes to the T. B. Wilderness Lodge to take a break from their daily routines and to experience everything the Belinda family has to offer. The two Heroes enjoyed their time thoroughly. They spent their 4 days laughing, eating great food, and building relationships with everyone in camp. Thank you to the Belinda family for hosting this event each year. This event is very beneficial to every Hero who attends.
Dates: November 11-12, 2020 Location: Ripley, NY Heroes Attended: 2 Outcome: Field To Freezer staff contacted WHHC wanting to host a Wounded Veteran deer and bear hunt on their farm in Ripley, New York. WHHC selected two Heroes and sent them out to New York, along with one of our Guides. Once everyone arrived in camp they celebrated Veterans Day by having a great meal and enjoying a performance by a local comedian. Even though nobody harvested a animal everyone had a great time forging new relationships and bonds.
Date: October 25-31, 2020 Location: Nicholasville, KY Heroes Attended: 2 Outcome: When WHHC got the call to send 2 Heroes to the Whitetail Heaven main lodge, we instantly knew this was going to be a great experience for the Heroes selected to attend. Each day, the Heroes had the best dining, lodging, and hunting anyone could ask for. The Whitetail Heaven staff went above and beyond to ensure each Hero had the best experience possible while in camp. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible.
Date: October 20-24, 2020 Location: Long Bottom, OH Heroes Attended: 2 Outcome: WHHC organized a four day hunt for two Heroes with Hupp Outfitters in Long Bottom, Ohio on their private farm. The Heroes had a fantastic time in camp and were surprised when Crosman Airgun staff stopped by to presented each Hero with a new Air Gun. Thank you to everyone involved who made this event possible.
Date: October 15-18, 2020 Location: Dorchester County, MD Heroes Attended: 3 Outcome: Three Heroes were sent to Dorchester County, Maryland for a Sika Deer hunt during the peak of the rut. The Heroes quickly realized hunting Sika Deer was unlike anything they had ever experienced before. Every Hero had an encounter with at least one Sika Deer and left the event with great memories.
Date: October 12-17, 2020 Location: Quemado, NM Heroes Attended: 3 Outcome: This was our second year sending Heroes to New Mexico to hunt with Old West Guides and Outfitters. The Heroes spent 6 days in camp and had encounters with Elk everyday. This is truly a hunt of a lifetime and we could not make it happen without our supporters in New Mexico. Every year Leroy and his wife Laura donate their time to ensure the Heroes enjoy every minute while in camp. This year the Heroes enjoyed IL to the fullest, they each filled their tags and built memories that will last a lifetime. We look forward to another great season with the folks out in IL next year. This year Heroes Jesse Palacios and David Hutchings scored big and harvested some beautiful white-tail deer. Our Heroes harvested 3 respectful antelope with the help of Fort Belknap guide Toby Werk. Location: Anatone, WA Heroes Attended: 15 WHHC Guides: Matthew Houston, Theresa Houston, Ranger Dan, Joe Coonse Details: WHHC took 15 Heroes and their families out to Anatone, WA to enjoy a camp style environment while hunting turkeys over Easter weekend. After the Heroes harvested their birds we held a Easter egg hunt for all of the military kids in camp, they also got to enjoy a day in camp tie dying shirts and completing a few crafting projects. WHHC would like to thank everyone that donated items for this event. Date: June 8-9, 2018 Location: North Side Sportsmen’s Association in Warrendale, PA Heroes Attended: 11 WHHC Guides: Christopher Rupp and Adam Hofmeister Outcome: The Wounded Heroes Hunting Camp hosted the 7th Annual Trap Shoot for Heroes this weekend. We had 11 WHHC alumni in attendance and were able to raise funds to support our upcoming outdoor adventures. A pre-event dinner was held on Friday evening at the North Side Sportsmen's Association for our Heroes who drove in to Pittsburgh with pizza provided by Monte Cello’s restaurant for all of our Heroes and volunteers. On Saturday, we kicked off our 7th Annual Trap Shoot for Heroes. We had 133 shooters come out and participate this year, far exceeding the number of supporters we have had attend in the past. Before the event started, we held a moment of silence for our brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. We were proud to display the 3 Remembering the Brave memorial displays, honoring Lance Corporal Gregory Rund, Sergeant Joseph Caskey, and Lance Corporal Kyle Burns. Thank you to all of our supporters, volunteers, and the North Side Sportsmen's Association. Another big thanks to Monte Cello's Italian Restaurant for the great food provided to everyone in attendance and to Brews Brothers Six-Pack Emporium for donating cold beer for our Heroes to enjoy after shooting concluded! This was a truly remarkable event that raised over $21,000 to support upcoming outdoor adventures for our Wounded Heroes this fall. Date: May 6, 2018
